ITW DEVCON, a world leader in adhesive technology and products for OEM assembly and maintenance/repair (MRO) applications, seeks an Applications Engineer to respond to phone inquiries for technical and application support.

Responsible for identifying problems and potential improvements to the adhesive systems. You will develop an action plan, perform testing, product reports and present results.

Requirements include a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Plastics, or Mechanical Engineering; strong oral, written and computer skills necessary. Involves occasional travel.

Senior Research and Development Chemist Resins (Posted 4/4/08)

Sika Corporation is one of the world's largest specialty chemical manufacturers with an active presence in over 68 countries. Due to continued growth, our Research & Development facility in Lyndhurst , NJ has an opportunity for a SENIOR CHEMIST in our Resins department.

This position requires a BS in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Material Science and 5 years experience in developing resin based coatings. Candidates must have experience working with various resin based systems, including epoxy, acrylics, oiled modified urethane, one and two component urethanes. Individual should be able to work independently, manage lab technicians and interact with all levels of management as required.

Candidate will also be responsible for being part of or leading various interdepartmental teams. Experience in DOE, ISO standards and FEMA are desirable. Responsibilities include developing products based on Marketing needs, supporting product release through production startup and validation. Individual must be able to follow ASTM, DOT and other internal test standards. Good record keeping, maintaining a clean and safe work place are also paramount

Qualifications/Experience:

  • BS or MS degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science or Chemical Engineering.
  • 5+ years hand on industrial experience in coatings.
  • Strong presentation skills. Excellent technical and business writing skills.
  • Excellent in DOE, Design FEMA, and other quality programs.
  • Good computer skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project Management.

Operations Manager - The Operations Manager will establish a cost effective scalable manufacturing process utilizing in-house strengths and outsourcing as necessary ensuring the highest quality product. The Manager will also be responsible for the day to day operations including capital expenditures and building modifications. Seven years of managing manufacturing processes in chemical, plastics or polymer industry is required and at least three years experience in operations management of a small firm preferred. Experience in taking products through development phases of research, prototyping, to release to production manufacturing, lean manufacturing, six sigma experience. This position is located in Columbus, OH. Relocation assistance is available. 

Epoxy Thermoset Chemist - The Chemist will provide expertise in epoxy formulation and epoxy based composites processing using pre-preg and/or resin transfer molding in the development of new products. A bachelors degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field with chemistry background is required. Significant experience in epoxy processing for high performance composite materials is required. Experience with the following processes: pre-preg, resin transfer molding and/or vacuum assisted resin transfer molding and resin infusion process. This is a full-time position located in Columbus, Ohio. Relocation assistance is available.

 

R&D Technician - The Technician will provide hands on assistance in organic synthesis and thermoset resin development (formulation work) for the research team. A high school diploma or GED is required with some college training in organic chemistry (BS preferred). Two years of experience in organic synthesis is required (working under inert atmosphere, catalysis, purification of solid and liquid chemicals). Experience with at least one of the following polymer formulations: epoxy formulation, polyurethane formulation, adhesive formulation or vinyl ester formulation. This is a full-time position located in Columbus, Ohio.
